Liddesdale, Keeper’s Cottage is set in stunning west highland scenery on the Morvern side of Loch Sunart facing a mountain called Beinn Resipol.
About four acres of ground surround the property, including its own beach with resident otter family. There’s a handsome ruin on the lochside which, like the cottage, dates back to about 1730. In the summer the sun sets perfectly over the loch bathing the cottage in the last golden light of the day.
We rent it to friends, family and new guests too.
Season - March to November, minimum seven nights and always starting on a Saturday.
Beds - There are 5 single beds and 1 standard double. This is comprised of 4 singles in the dormitory room and 1 single and the double in the master bedroom.
Bed linen - We ask guests to bring their own bed linen, ie sheets, pillow cases, duvet covers and bathroom towels. However if this is absolutely not possible, then a laundry service can be supplied with good notice and an additional fee.
Cleaning - We have a lovely cleaner who keeps Liddesdale spick and span and the service is included in the rental fee.
Pets - are welcome but we do ask that they do not go on soft furnishings or upstairs.
Water - comes straight from the mountain, as such its purity cannot be guaranteed, so we ask guests to supply their own bottled drinking water. Occasionally the water can be prone to disruption, we have a plumber who can usually come within 24-48hrs, however a lot of guests get the water back up and running themselves, its an easy and satisfying job to complete oneself.
The cottage is simple, comfortable and, for the most part, a time capsule to a simpler time. We work hard to maintain it but keep its old world charms. The electric Everhot provides heating in the kitchen area, and there’s a cosy woodburner in the sitting room, plus plug in electric heaters. The Everhot is perfect for roasting and slow cooking and an electric induction hob for speed. There’s no television but we do provide wifi for whatever you need.

Liddesdale is a not for profit family home. As you have probably gathered by now, it is unlike a lot of holiday rentals managed by large estates or run as businesses.
There is an outside chance you may discover a mouse whilst you stay there, and there will almost certainly be a spider somewhere.
We do occasionally get guests who are looking for city-like levels of functionality, we cannot provide this in our remote location.
However it is truly the best place in the world in my, and many people's opinion, and I hope you will discover this too :)
There are shops and amenities in the local villages of Strontian and Lochaline. Petrol and diesel are also available in both. We do not have any fast charging facilities for electric vehicles.
This is an ideal place to enjoy tranquillity and beautiful views; also a base for exploring the spectacular surrounding area of Morvern, Ardnamurchan, Moidart and the Isle of Mull, all on the cottage’s doorstep.
